CTAG awarded with the 1st Prize on Innovation 2011 by Fedit (Spanish Federation of Technology Centres)
The award was presented by the jury to the project called “Design of a catalytic system to eliminate pollutants in diesel vehicles”, submitted by CTAG (Automotive Technology Centre of Galicia)

Within the framework of the International Year of Chemistry 2011, the Fedit held its 6th Annual Gathering of Technology Centres in Málaga (October 25th, 2011) awarding the 1st Prize on Innovation 2011.

This 1st prize was awarded by the jury to the project called “Design of a catalytic system to eliminate pollutants in diesel vehicles” submitted by CTAG (Automotive Technology Centre of Galicia).

The aim of this project is to bring light to one of the most severe problems nowadays: “the increase of pollutant emissions”. As far as diesel engines are concerned, the main gases released are carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, carbon particles and nitrogen oxides (Nox), being these two, carbon particles and nitrogen oxides particularly difficult to be cut down in current diesel engines. CTAG and the University of Chemistry in Alicante have joined efforts to successfully reduce pollutant emissions by means of a project which has formulated, designed and built a catalytic system capable of eliminating pollutants in diesel engines. In order to do so, both basic and applied chemistry have been needed.
