The tasks performed by CTAG's engine laboratory include:

  • Power and emission curve analysis.
  • Durability tests on engines and/or engine components.
  • Fluid-dynamic tests.
  • Validation of engine components.
  • Measurements in customer engine test cells with portable data acquisition equipment.
  • Processing and analysis of data acquired in engine test cells (temporal analysis, frequency analysis, order analysis, fatigue calculations, and others).
  • Design and construction of test equipment according to customer specifications.
  • Engine bench: controlled dynamometric brake in order to reproduce the real loads that an engine is subjected to in normal operation. Maximum power: 190 kW (250 hp) in petrol or diesel engine.
  • Gas emission analyser: Horiba Mexa 7170 5 gases (CO, C02, O2, THC, and NOx).
  • Engine instrumentation means (temperatures, pressures, strain gauges, etc.)
  • Data acquisition system for temperature, pressure, air flow rates, water flow rates, fuel consumption, etc.
  • Portable Emission Measurement System (PEMS): Sensors Semtech LDV, for measuring CO, CO2, NO, NO2, PN, exhaust gas flow, fuel consumption, and others, under real driving conditions.
