La Unidad Mixta de Investigación de Borgwarner y CTAG ha contribuido al progreso de la movilidad sostenible

▪ Trabajando juntos desde 2020, y con una trayectoria de colaboración que arranca en 2014,BorgWarner y CTAG han logrado resultados muy satisfactorios sobre nuevos productos electrónicos vinculados a la gestión térmica para la electrificación del transporte.

▪ La Unidad Mixta de Investigación GTEST, que ha movilizado un presupuesto de más de 3,7 millones de euros y un equipo de trabajo de 50 investigadores, ha contado con el apoyo de la Xunta de Galicia a través de la Axencia Galega de Innovación (GAIN).

La Unidad Mixta de Investigación GTEST, impulsada por CTAG y BorgWarner, ha finalizado su recorrido tras 4 anualidades de ejecución. GTEST se ha enfocado hacia la investigación y desarrollo en nuevos productos electrónicos vinculados a la gestión térmica para la electrificación del transporte, de la mano del amplio potencial existente en materia de electronificación y control de sistemas y su contribución al progreso de la movilidad sostenible.

Así, en el marco de GTEST los esfuerzos técnicos se han volcado en generar una nueva área de excelencia en torno a Power Electronics, investigando sobre PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) avanzadas y nuevos procedimientos que garanticen unos procesos de desarrollo y validación óptimos, teniendo en cuenta los exigentes estándares del sector de automoción.

El proyecto GTEST, que ha movilizado un presupuesto de más de 3,7 millones de euros y un equipo de trabajo de 50 investigadores, de los cuales 16 han sido nuevas contrataciones, ha puesto el broche a una trayectoria de colaboración iniciada en 2014 con la primera de las Unidades Mixtas conjuntas entre BorgWarner y CTAG, destinando en su conjunto más de 10 millones de euros a investigación y desarrollo en torno a la reducción de emisiones y la movilidad sostenible.

Para comprobar de primera mano los prometedores resultados obtenidos, así como la proyección que estos tienen para que el sector gallego de la automoción pueda seguir dando pasos en el ámbito del vehículo eléctrico, y, por lo tanto, en la transformación digital y ecológica de la industria, el martes 10 de octubre el Director del Área de Gestión de la Axencia Galega de Innovación, Benito Fernández, visitó las instalaciones de la Unidad Mixta en Porto do Molle (Nigrán).

La Unidad Mixta de Investigación GTEST ha sido subvencionada por la Axencia Galega de Innovación mediante la convocatoria de “Subvencións para a creación e posta en marcha de Unidades Mixtas de Investigación” (DOG Nº 35, de 20 de febrero de 2020), y cofinanciada con cargo al Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (Feder) en el marco del programa operativo Feder Galicia 2014-2020 (código de expediente IN853A-2020/01), contando con el apoyo de la Consellería de Economía, Industria e Innovación de la Xunta de Galicia.

El proyecto europeo SALIENT (Novel Concepts for Safer, Lighter, Circular and Smarter Vehicle Structure Design for Enhanced Crashworthiness and Higher Compatibility), liderado por CTAG y que cuenta con un consorcio internacional de 12 socios, ha alcanzado este mes su primer año de recorrido.

SALIENT busca investigar y desarrollar nuevos componentes estructurales de vehículo que sean inteligentes, adaptativos, más ligeros y seguros. Durante este primer año, SALIENT ha analizado el rango de posibles escenarios hacia los que evolucionará la movilidad en el futuro de cara a adaptar el comportamiento de la carrocería del vehículo en caso de colisión. Además, el proyecto se ha centrado en mejorar la estructura delantera del vehículo, aplicando los principios de eco-diseño y empleando materiales avanzados con base aluminio y composite.

CTAG participates for the first time in the FISITA World Congress

Our first destination will be, once again, the city of Barcelona, where we will participate in the 39th FISITA World Congress from 12-15 September, the best opportunity to meet with the international community of mobility engineers.

As a technology centre focused on development, research and technological innovation in the automotive sector, which has had a strategic line of Electronics and Intelligent Mobility since 2005, we will be presenting CTAG’s advances in systems for autonomous and connected vehicles, HMI and UX, interior comfort, hardware and software development and the validation of electronic systems at stand number 154.

We will also showcase the competences of each of our laboratories, starting with our latest incorporation: the Electromobility Lab, CTAG’s commitment to promote research and development around new and more sustainable propulsion systems.

And visitors can also ask about our Passive Safety division, where our expert team in simulation and testing of restraint systems works on side, front and rear catapult crash tests, specific benches and many more.

CTAG doesn’t rest: getting ready for the autumn events

At CTAG we are making the most of these summer months to be able to show you all our latest news after the break.

Our team is using this holiday period to organise their attendance at different trade fairs and congresses where we will showcase the technological advances and latest research of the centre in the mobility sector.

The first event where we will be present will be the FISITA World Congress in Barcelona, between 12 and 15 September, one of the best opportunities to establish connections with the global community of mobility engineers.

One month later, we will travel to Bonn, Germany, to participate in the International VDI Congress “ELIV”, which will be held on October 18 and 19. This is the meeting point for manufacturers, suppliers, universities and researchers specialised in electronics in the automotive sector.

We will return to Barcelona from November 7 to 9 to present our innovations in the development of new Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) during the Smart City Expo World Congress, the largest and most influential international event on urban mobility.

And finally, we will end the year in Stuttgart, Germany, participating in the Automotive Interiors Expo Europe on 5, 6 and 7 December, where we will show our progress in the research of new materials for vehicle interiors.

Throughout these four months, we will also join multiple specialised conferences and symposiums to share knowledge and experiences with other leading players in the field of mobility. These will be unique opportunities to network and keep up to date with industry trends, such as the “Robotics4EU Project Workshops” on 3 and 4 October in Delft, the Netherlands.

Mindtech, the leading industrial fair of the Iberian Pole, is back

This time we are staying at home: CTAG will be at the IFEVI exhibition centre, in Vigo, Pontevedra, to meet with leading companies of the metal industry and its related technologies on June 20, 21 and 22.

We will be located at stand E-12B, giving everyone who comes to visit us the opportunity to see live demonstrations of two of our latest technological solutions developed in CTAG’s Booster Manufacturing Lab, a laboratory designed for the research and development of new technologies and applications for Industry 5.0:

Our InteX project, capable of objectively assessing the impact of exoskeletons in the work environment through AI-based performance indicators and the SmartFlexCell project, a flexible and quickly adjustable robotic cell thanks to hexapod and software technology.

We will also be showcasing three other solutions from CTAG’s Materials Innovation area:

– The textile thermocouple matrix, to check how it is possible to measure temperature in different places at the same time on the same surface.

– Our heated ceramic surface.

– The resistive sensor array, which measures the pressure we apply to multiple points on the same surface.

The insAI Joint Research Unit between Antolin and CTAG comes to an end

After four years of R&D&I work, the insAI Joint Research Unit between Grupo Antolin and CTAG has been successfully concluded.

The project has involved a team of 25 researchers, who have responded to the need to advance in the development of intelligent and innovative solutions for vehicle interiors, applied in the fields of safety and automated driving, comfort and health.

“I would like to highlight the trust that they have placed in us to accompany them in something as complex as the incorporation of intelligence inside the vehicle, in their product portfolio, and that has been the main objective of this Joint Unit that is coming to an end”, said Luis Moreno, General Director of CTAG, about the collaboration with Grupo Antolin during this project.

The technological progress developed after insAI has made it possible to achieve the following objectives:

– An ozonation system, an intelligent, efficient and safe device that is integrated into the car cabin with the capacity to sanitise surfaces and eliminate odours.

– An air purification system that efficiently eliminates viruses, bacteria, particles and volatile organic compounds.

– An intelligent thermal comfort system through radiant surfaces.

– An advanced control system for the opacity and transparency of the sun visor, which controls two sun visors made of different materials that can be darkened in sections.

-An electronic system for the functional lighting of the cabin, which supports the user, either to facilitate the search for elements within the user’s field of vision or to support driving assistance systems. It also covers the different ambient lighting scenarios that guarantee comfort.

Antolin and CTAG have increased their technological capabilities, improving their competitive level and boosting activity in the automotive sector and auxiliary industries. The insAI Joint Research Unit has been financed by the Axencia Galega de Innovación through the call for “Subvencións para a creación e posta en marcha de Unidades Mixtas de Investigación” (DOG No. 35, February 20, 2020) and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the framework of the Galicia ERDF 2014-2020 Operational Programme (file code IN853A-2020/03), with the support of the Vicepresidencia Primeira e Consellería de Economía, Industria e Innovación of the Xunta de Galicia.

CTAG returns to Stuttgart to participate in Automotive Testing Expo Europe

As an Automotive Technology Centre expert in the development of new R&D laboratory tests, CTAG could not miss the world’s leading event in testing technologies and services for the development of complete vehicles, components and systems: Automotive Testing Expo Europe 2023.

This year it will be held again in the German city of Stuttgart from 13 to 15 June, where you will be able to find us at stand 1559, in hall 10, showing our new products and capabilities for testing and validation of vehicle equipment, systems and components.

We will be presenting the capabilities of all our laboratories: acoustics and vibration, passive safety, ADAS & ITS proving grounds, climatic testing, fatigue & durability, EMC & EE testing, HiL/MiL/SiL tests, engine lab, materials tests, mechatronics & reliability, as well as our newest laboratory, the Electromobility Lab, created to drive research and development of the various components of an electric vehicle.

CTAG showcases its latest advances in sustainable mobility in Barcelona

We are happy to announce CTAG’s attendance on 05, 06 and 07 June 2023 at the world’s leading event for public transport: the UITP Global Transport Summit in Barcelona.

This congress will bring together more than 15,000 international visitors and 380 exhibitors on more than 40,000 m² of exhibition space to showcase the latest innovations in the sector.

CTAG will participate for the first time in this fair with a stand where visitors will be able to see our 100% electric shuttle, connected and with a level of autonomy 4, a vehicle that controls the conditions of the environment in which it is located, defining the route and responding to any situation.

We are travelling to Stuttgart to present our latest developments in sustainable powertrains

CTAG will be participating in The Battery Show, the main international meeting point for professionals in the field of batteries and electric and hybrid vehicles.

The German city of Stuttgart will once again be responsible for hosting this event on 23, 24 and 25 May 2023. During this edition there will be more than 10,000 attendees who will have the opportunity to learn about the latest advances and technological solutions in the field of sustainable powertrains.

You will be able to find us at stand C71 where we will showcase our expertise in testing & validation of e-components, eCLIMA, eAXLE, HV power test bench and EMC testing, eMAST and Abuse Testing.

We are taking our Shuttle to Lisbon to participate in the 15th ITS European Congress

 

 

 

 

 

Once again this year we are travelling to the city where the ITS European Congress is being held to present our latest innovations in smart mobility. The event will take place from May 22 to 24, 2023 at the Congress Centre in Lisbon, Portugal.

In this 15th edition, CTAG will participate in multiple ways:

– We will be at stand B30 presenting our technologies and development capabilities in Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM).

– We will carry out the demo “CTAG Autonomous Shuttle: a way of connecting Mobility”, where the public will be able to live the experience of a smart mode of transport equipped with cutting edge technologies capable of giving the vehicle the ability to communicate with the infrastructure or with other vehicles.

– The director of the Electronics and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) division of CTAG, Francisco J. Sánchez Pons, will give a talk on the 24th, at 15:15h, entitled “Managing Urban Mobility Space – What can we expect from cities in the future”.

– With the participation of Javier Vázquez on the 23rd at 11:45h, in the panel discussion “Data services for traffic management”.

The ITS European Congress, organised by ERTICO, is a benchmark event in the field of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). This year, 57 countries will be represented and more than 2,500 attendees are expected at an exhibition area of 3,500 m2.
