CTAG hosted the launch event for VALLE_H2GAP, a project aimed at fostering a cross-border renewable hydrogen ecosystem in the Galicia–Northern Portugal Euroregion. The initiative, coordinated by CTAG, will promote a common strategy to advance the decarbonisation and green transition of key sectors in the region.
The event, held at the CTAG facilities in O Porriño, brought together institutional representatives, stakeholders in the innovation system, business organisations and project partners, reflecting the growing interest in renewable hydrogen on both sides of the border as a strategic driver of the energy transition.
The overall objective of VALLE_H2GAP is to design and develop a shared strategy for an H2 valley in the Euroregion, revitalising the cross-border ecosystem across the entire value chain: from production and distribution to the end uses of renewable hydrogen.
Among its main areas of focus, the project will analyse international experiences, define deployment models tailored to the region, develop demonstration projects to validate the technical and economic viability of hydrogen-based solutions, and launch training and capacity-building initiatives aimed at developing specialist talent.
The consortium comprises 10 organisations from Galicia and Northern Portugal, representing the entire renewable hydrogen value chain: public authorities (INEGA-Galician Regional Government), business associations (Galician Hydrogen Association and Portuguese Association for the Promotion of Hydrogen), technology centres (CTAG, INEGI), a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (GNP, EGTC) and universities (USC, UVIGO, UDC, UTAD).
The project is funded by the Interreg VI-A Spain–Portugal (POCTEP) programme for 2021–2027.
