Facilities and resources
Test catapult
It is a means of accurately reproducing the accelerations produced by a frontal, side and rear impact.
To reproduce the side impact, CTAG has a proprietary methodology that allows it to reproduce the intrusions on the passenger compartment dynamically, synchronised with the main movement of the catapult.
Calibration and instrumentation laboratory
CTAG has a family of dummies for the development of occupant protection projects as well as a laboratory equipped for the calibration of the dummies in-situ (including BioRID II).
Other means
High speed intrusion cylinders
They perform high-speed dynamic movements to reproduce intrusions. They can be used on the sled of the catapult for advanced side-impact methodology, or off the catapult for subsystem tests.
Technical characteristics:
Technical characteristics:
- Speed up to 14ms, and acceleration up to 150g
- Max displacement 400mm
- 2 cylinder sets of 2 cylinders each:
- 2x 60kN for component testing
- 2x120kN à embarkable in catapult
Launcher
Allows the launching of anthropomorphic shapes in free flight for the purpose of impact tests on components.
Technical characteristics:
- Standard impactors (FMVSS 201, maxilla, hemisphere...) and tailor-made according to the client's needs (pelvis, abdomen, head...).
- • Capacity: 36 kg @ 68 km/h
- Possibility of incorporating a horizontal guide
SAE Pendulum
Designed for impact tests on seats and vehicle interior components such as ECER17 (ENAC17025 accredited), ECER21 and ECER25.
Drop tower
Tower that allows the impact of different elements on components by means of the acceleration of gravity and by taking advantage of a vertical guide.
Technical characteristics:
- Maximum height: 4 m
- Distance between pillars: 1 m
- Weight range: from 1,4 kg to 800 kg
Knee Impact system
Knee impact sub-system test:
- Knee impact sub-system test method equivalent to sled/crash
- Possibility to mount one or two legs of different dummies (Hybrid III 50th, 5th or 95th)
- Possibility to test with/without kneeling airbag
- Instrument panel and knee airbag design
High speed infrared thermography
Thanks to the high speed thermal imaging camera it is possible to record the infrared radiation of thermal transient phenomena occurring at very short time intervals. Airbag gas distribution during deployment. Detection of hot particles ejected from generator filters.
Technical characteristics:
- Spectral range: 1.5 - 5.5 um Band pass filter: 3-5 um
- Acquisition velocity: 120 - 38000 Hz
- Different window sizes according to requirements
